Vic Williams - Yoga Teacher & Studio Coordinator

My own Yoga journey started over 17 years ago after the birth of my first daughter. I had a corporate job and spent a great deal of time travelling and away from home. I practiced Yoga in my hotel room to help me manage the stress and travel fatigue I was experiencing. It also helped me gain a sense of control over my mind, body and breathing that helped me in everyday life. I began to understand muscle release techniques and soon felt stronger and more able to cope.  After a number of years of practice I decided to embark on teacher training for my own interest: juggling my job, children and home commitments. A while later I made the move to full time teaching Yoga and Yoga Therapy. I added on a children's yoga qualification and then trained again to become a specialist Teen Yoga teacher.

I have a degree in Developmental Psychology with an emphasis on Adolescence and a Masters in Human Management.  I spent many years in a global corporate environment helping organisations get the best from its people. I understand the psychology of learning and brain development, motivation, behaviours, emotional drivers and dealing with change which helps me with my yoga therapy work.

I have continued to expand on my knowledge by attending training in Trauma: PTSD, abuse, addiction and eating disorders and I work with teens and young people in this area. I have also undertaken a Forrest Yoga teacher immersion course which is an intensively physically and internally transformative style of yoga.

I have a certificate in Kinesiology techniques which I like to add into my classes.

I am a Neuroscience geek and love to understand the brain and how the mind/body connection influences our actions and thoughts especially with regards to Adolescence.

I used to be a proficient in BSL but I am quite slow now – this is something I would love to be able to use again and incorporate into my class.

All of this varied knowledge, experience and passion I bring into my yoga classes, along with fun and support. (I was a competitive gymnast as a child and I still love to cartwheel around the yoga studio now!)
