Welcome to THE STUDIO at Durham House Chiropractic Clinic Farnham
The Studio is a bespoke studio offering the highest quality classes run by our highly trained and experienced team of chiropractors, physiotherapists, pilates and yoga teachers.
Our Flexicore classes are unique. Our team of chiropractors devised the format after realising there was nothing like this out in the community for our patients. The classes are taught by our chiropractors and have been specifically designed by them to help improve core strength, stability and flexibility.
Learn how to move in a way that compliments your body. Focus on good form and control in movement, using body weight to develop your core strength, balance and flexibility. These classes focus on injury prevention and are a great compliment to the treatment received at our clinics.
The beginners class starts at a very basic level with a gentle introduction. The intermediate and advanced classes progress the exercises to challenge any individual.
These can be accompanied by a free consultation with one of our chiropractors to address any specific issues or worries before attending a class.
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates as the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout (not a therapy) when properly completed. If completed consistently, it has been shown to improve flexibility and strength. It also develops control and endurance in the entire body. Pilates puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core and improving coordination and balance. Our classes are small and taught by physiotherapists, enabling you to work on your core and fully rehabilitate any injuries. We hold beginners, intermediate and mixed ability classes.
This unique workout combines the elements of pilates, yoga, resistance training and ballet into a highly effective workout performed on the mat and at a ballet barre. The effect is a long, lean dancer’s body without having to be a dancer! Barre Concept is a low impact, total body workout. The result is a body that is realigned, rebalanced and works harmoniously and efficiently. Stretches are performed after each strength section to ensure the muscles are re-lengthened to create a body that is strong and lean.
Yoga is an ancient philosophy and form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility), breathing and mindfulness. Yoga is the Sanskrit word for union as when practicing yoga we are connecting the mind, the body and the breath together.
Yoga can be a safe and effective way to increase physical activity, especially strength, flexibility and balance and also improve relaxation techniques. There's some evidence that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains, depression and stress. We offer regular beginners and mixed ability yoga classes at Durham House for adults and for teens. We also host many weekend workshops for restorative yoga, Yin yoga, pregnancy and postal natal yoga.
